The history of Massage Therapy is a wide variety from all over the world. Some date back to as early as 3000 BCE, or earlier, in India, compared to dating in the 1700s in the United States. In 1958, the AAMM changed its name to the American Massage & Therapy Association, and from that point on encouraged calling the profession massage therapy and practitioners massage therapists. The “&” was dropped in 1983 to enforce the identity of the unified profession as massage therapy, while the term therapy was defined as promoting good health and encompassed the whole range of applications.

The first ancient people known to use sound as a healing power are the indigenous people of Northern Australia. The ancient culture created a kind of sound healing expressed through the didgeridoo, or its ancient name , the yidaki. Made from fallen eucalyptus branches hollowed out by termites, the didgeridoo is considered to be the oldest wind instrument, dating back more than 40,0000 years. Sound helps to facilitate shifts in our brainwave state by using entrainment.
Entrainment synchronizes our fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwave can attune to. By using rhythm and frequency, we can entrain our brainwaves and it then becomes possible to down-shift our normal beta state (normal walking consciousness), to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (sleep, where internal healing can occur).
Entrainment is defined as the patterning of body processes and movements to the rhythm of music. Creating a stronger wave to bring harmony and balance.

Thai massage is also known as “lazy man’s yoga”. While the receiver is relaxed and passive, they are put into different therapeutic stretches. This increases range of motion and decreases pain. It brings a sense of aliveness and facilitates the movement of energy through the energetic pathways. People often comment that they feel lengthened and taller after receiving Thai massage. This style is a profoundly healing, effective, and dynamic form of bodywork.

Quartz Crystal singing bowls were originally a by-product from the computer industry in the early 1950s. Quartz can be heated to high temperatures so quartz ‘crucibles’ were used to grow computer chips and other components within them. Scientists found that they have a resonance and created specifically tuned instruments inspired by the Himalayan Bowls. Crystal Singing bowls first came into being utilized with the intention of Healing and Meditation in the late 1980s.
